The Vasconcelos’ Arboreal Alligator Lizard, scientifically known as Abronia vasconcelosii, is a strikingly colorful lizard found exclusively in the cloud forests of southern Mexico. It exhibits vibrant green and yellow patterns along its body, resembling the scales of an alligator, which is reflected in its common name. The species is primarily arboreal, spending most of its time in the upper canopy of forests, where it is well adapted to its environment, often blending in with the moss-covered branches. This lizard has a robust body with a length of up to 28 cm (11 inches) from head to tail. It feeds mainly on small invertebrates and insects, playing an important role in controlling pest populations.
