Acropora abrolhosensis forms arborescent colonies with straight cylindrical branches, which may create stands over 10 meters across and 2 meters high. The branches can be widely separated or compact, depending on space availability. Axial corallites are large and exsert, while radial corallites are outward-facing, appressed to tubular, with circular openings. The coral exhibits colors ranging from brown to blue or pink, with pale branch tips. This species is particularly susceptible to coral bleaching and disease, and its population is decreasing. It is listed as Vulnerable on the IUCN Red List and is included in CITES Appendix II
