The Alpine Ibex (Capra ibex) is a species of wild mountain goat found in the European Alps. Once on the brink of extinction, its overall population is now considered to be recovering, although some subspecies are still regarded as vulnerable or endangered. Threats to the Alpine Ibex include habitat loss, hunting, and disturbance from tourism and human activities in their mountainous habitats. Conservation efforts, including protected areas and regulated hunting practices, have contributed to the recovery of some populations.
