The Yellow-headed Amazon is a medium-sized parrot native to Mexico and Central America. It is known for its striking yellow head, green body, and vibrant personality. Adults typically reach lengths of 15–17 inches (38–43 cm) and weigh around 1 pound (450 g). Yellow-headed Amazons are highly intelligent and social birds, known for their ability to mimic sounds and human speech. They inhabit mangroves, deciduous forests, and tropical lowland areas, where they feed on fruits, seeds, nuts, and flowers. Unfortunately, they are heavily targeted for the illegal pet trade due to their popularity, which has contributed to their endangered status.
