The Armenian Viper (Montivipera raddei) is a venomous snake species with two recognizes subspecies, found in the southern region of Armenia, Azerbaijan, and adjacent regions of Turkey and Iran. It is listed as critically endangered. The remaining population of Azerbaijan Vipers is in decline due to habitat loss, fragmentation, and degradation due to urbanization, agriculture, and infrastructure development. Illegal collection for the exotic pet trade further exacerbates their conservation status.
