The Black Snub-nosed Monkey (Rhinopithecus bieti), also known as the Yunnan Snub-nosed Monkey, is a rare and endangered primate native to the mountainous regions of southwestern China. Recognized for its distinctive appearance, including a short stump of a nose and a coat ranging from dark brown to black, this monkey is adapted to high-altitude habitats. The current population is estimated to be around 2,000 individuals, facing threats such as habitat loss due to logging, agriculture, and infrastructure development. Additionally, poaching and climate change further exacerbate their precarious situation.
