The Cao-vit Gibbon (Nomascus nasutus) is a rare primate species facing extinction found only in Vietnam and China. Their population is estimated to be fewer than 50 individuals and decreasing. This species was thought to be extinct but a surviving population was found in 2002. The major threats to this species include deforestation, hunting, and illegal capture for the pet trade.
