The Hawaiian hawk (Buteo solitarius), also known as the 'Io, is a raptor species endemic to the Hawaiian Islands. It is currently listed as a threatened species. The estimated remaining population is difficult to determine accurately, but it is believed to be around 1,100 mature individuals but decreasing. The main threats to this species include habitat loss, predation by invasive species like feral cats and rats, and collision with power lines. The decline of their main prey, such as small birds and rodents, also poses a threat to their population.
