The Irrawaddy Dolphin (Orcaella brevirostris) is an endangered marine mammal species found in coastal areas and rivers of Southeast Asia. The remaining population of Irrawaddy Dolphins faces threats such as habitat loss, entanglement in fishing gear, pollution, and accidental capture in fishing nets. Dam construction and water pollution from agriculture and industrial activities have resulted in the degradation of their habitats and reduced their population. Conservation efforts focus on habitat protection, reduction of bycatch, and raising awareness about the importance of their conservation.
