The Saola (Pseudoryx nghetinhensis), also known as the "Asian Unicorn," is an endangered mammal found only in the Annamite Mountains of Vietnam and Laos. It is one of the rarest large mammals on Earth. It is a rare and elusive bovine species characterized by its slender build and striking appearance. Adults typically weigh around 100 kilograms and have a body length of approximately 150 centimeters, with a shoulder height between 80 and 90 centimeters. Both males and females possess long, straight, and pointed horns that can reach up to 50 centimeters in length. The saola's coat is a rich brown color, with distinctive white markings on the face and a white stripe running across the rump. Due to its recent discovery in 1992 and its secretive nature, much of the saola's behavior and ecology remain poorly understood. The exact remaining population is unknown, but it is believed to be extremely small, with some estimates calculating fewer than 300 remain.
