Dr. Courtney Conway is the Unit Leader of the Idaho Research Unit, bringing a wealth of experience and expertise to the field of wildlife ecology. With a Ph.D. from the University of Montana and a diverse academic background, including a post-doctoral fellowship at SUNY-ESF in Syracuse, Dr. Conway has made significant contributions to the study of birds and mammals across North America. His research, spanning gamebirds, waterbirds, raptors, songbirds, and small mammals, focuses on applied and conceptual questions in ecology, addressing issues of management and conservation concern. Dr. Conway's work extends to sampling designs and monitoring protocols for rare or listed species, contributing to our understanding of life history evolution, avian migration, mammal hibernation, and other key animal behaviors. As a dedicated educator, he imparts his knowledge through courses in Experimental Design, the Hypothetico-Deductive Method, Scientific Writing, Scientific Presentations, and various graduate seminars. Dr. Conway's commitment to integrating management actions with experimental research treatments reflects his desire to rigorously examine the effectiveness of alternative management strategies on animal populations.
