Established in 2005 by five prominent U.S. endangered species centers, including Fossil Rim Wildlife Center and San Diego Zoo Global, Conservation Centers for Species Survival (C2S2) is a collaborative force in science-driven conservation. Initiated by the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, C2S2 was founded to address urgent challenges in species preservation. With key goals encompassing sustainability innovation and financial stability, the organization initially operated from the Smithsonian Conservation Biology Institute before relocating to Fossil Rim Wildlife Center in 2014. Attaining 501(c)(3) status in 2015, C2S2 has implemented impactful programs for cheetahs, ungulates, and birds. Now under new leadership, the organization is committed to a comprehensive 25-year plan, expanding its global impact on wildlife conservation.
